Nearly ten years ago I became interested in the gap between the leadership and career development needs of senior executives and professionals (£150k + level) and what coaches, mentors, trainers, outplacement providers, head-hunters and organisations – all were providing.  
 
With a background over fifteen years mainly on the business side of film, television and publishing I observed talented people, particularly in sport and the arts, being  “well managed” by managers treating them as businesses. I believed some, if not all, of these processes were transferable to the executive arena. So, I developed a model to manage careers as micro-businesses and jobs as joint ventures and launched a service to deliver it. Since then I have worked with hundreds of senior executives and professionals and many organisations. You can read some of their FEEDBACK.

I am supported by a project management team and experts and, with their help, I address three core needs for individuals or, for organisations on behalf of individuals:

  • Career development/strategy:  using a micro-business strategy planning tool I have developed
  • Leadership/performance at work:  I have developed an internal  relationship management “grid” system
  • New career opportunities:  I approach targets on behalf of clients, generate leads and help them close deals - often the area of greatest weakness

Core programmes include:
  • Career step-change:  new sector, role, new business or portfolio launch
  • Long service leavers:  all sectors including lawyers
  • Performance milestones:  Annual Reviews; First 100 Days, Next 100 Days, Last 100 Days i.e. managing a “good exit”

I’m interested in everything to do with work in the 21st. Century and you may find my blog of interest even if you don’t agree with all my views including replacing HR Directors with Chiefs of Staff and abandoning Human Capital as a principle altogether.
